Renowned actor Adan Canto, celebrated for his roles in US TV shows like "Designated Survivor" and notable films such as "X-Men: Days of Future Past," has passed away at the age of 42.

His publicist revealed that the Mexican star had been battling appendiceal cancer.
In "Designated Survivor," Canto portrayed the national security adviser alongside Kiefer Sutherland, who fondly remembered him as "such a wonderful spirit."
Canto's portrayal of mutant Sunspot in the 2014 X-Men film earned him recognition, and co-star Halle Berry later cast him in her movie "Bruised."
Expressing her grief on Instagram, Berry wrote, "I don't have the words just yet… but my dear sweet friend Adan just gained his wings. Forever, forever in my heart."
Canto's wife, Stephanie Ann, shared a poignant photo of the couple, along with a Bible passage, expressing, "Forever my treasure Adan, see you soon."

In a statement, his publicist Jennifer Allen reflected on Canto's profound spirit: "Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever. He will be greatly missed by so many."
Sutherland added to the tributes, stating, "As an actor, his desire to do well, to be great, and then do better, was truly impressive. He will be greatly missed. I am also heartbroken for his wife, Steph, and his two young children. Adan, may you rest in peace."
Canto's role as Aaron Shore in "Designated Survivor" left a lasting impact, with co-star Maggie Q expressing her admiration for his kindness, warmth, and dedication to family.
Italia Ricci, another castmate, shared her grief, describing Canto as the strongest person she knew and expressing deep sorrow for his family.
Canto continued to captivate audiences as gangster Arman Morales in Fox's crime drama "The Cleaning Lady" in 2022.
In a joint statement, Fox and Warner Bros Television hailed him as a "wonderful actor and dear friend," emphasizing the unfathomable loss and extending condolences to his wife, Stephanie, their children, and loved ones.
Canto's breakthrough in the US came in the Fox thriller "The Following" in 2013, followed by appearances in ABC sitcom "Mixology" and drama "Blood & Oil."
His diverse career also included portraying Colombian politician Rodrigo Lara Bonilla in Netflix's "Narcos," and he left his mark on the spy thriller "Agent Game" in 2022.
